Colourbrain (2021 version) is an excellent choice for visual thinkers. If you notice the hues of the world around you, and can close your eyes and come up with all the colours in a particular logo - you are in for a treat with this innovative game as it will really be playing to your strengths.

The makers of this game pride themselves on making enjoyable games for people who normally wouldn't regard themselves as that good at quizzes. It is a colourful take on the trivia game genre.

Players/teams are provided with 11 different colour cards as their hand. All of the questions they will be asked can be answered by submitting one or more of the colour cards (face down so the opposition can't see).

What colour are Dorothy's shoes?

What colour is the lid on a jar of marmite?

What two colours are  a Cadbury's Double Decker?

What colour are New York taxis?

All players turn over their cards together, and then the question card is turned over to reveal the answer.

Because of the range of questions asked, teams of mixed ages work really well with Colourbrain.  The questions are diverse so everyone gets a chance to shine.  A team of parents, children, even grandparents would make a very strong side. Then whether it is a question about geography, Harry Potter or retro toys there will hopefully be someone on that team who can answer (or have a really good guess).

This is a straight forward Question & Answer format. The amount of points you get for a correct answer varies, depending on how many wrong answers there were in that round (e.g. if 3 players/teams got it wrong, you get 3 points).  Players/teams who are losing have the chance to 'colour capture' (essentially steal) some of the leading opponents colour cards, so they are at a disadvantage and have a reduced rainbow for the next question.

Simple premise but this is an enjoyable game, partly because no other game is quite like it. Colourbrain really tests how well you think you know things, and gives a good grey matter workout as a result.

Contains 300 questions. Play time 20 - 30  minutes. For 2 - 20 players.

Recommended for players aged 12 years +. However we have happily played this with younger competitors on a mixed aged team (10 years or younger). Our team was definitely stronger when our younger members could volunteer the colours of the Powerpuff girls or Power Rangers (older players had no clue). However, for younger solo players (not on a mixed team) some references may be beyond them.

Plastic free.

Colourbrain Disney also available on this site.

Boxed dimensions: 240 x 240 x 60mm
